Kinston 101 is a 9 week program that shares information with citizens about the city operations while increasing their capacity to participate in local government. Sessions are Thursday evenings from 530-8pm, with two Saturday morning exceptions.
Each week, participants will see a different city department, ask questions to the department head, and engage in hands-on activities. Participants will tour the police station, visit our city parks, create a mock city budget, present to city council, see the wastewater treatment plant, and more. Kinston 101 is for any resident that is interested in how the city works and how public decisions are made!
Kinston 101 in part fulfills the promise we made to ourselves in the 2015 Plan Kinston strategy to "continuously engage the citizenry to solicit feedback, generate ideas, and garner support for projects, policies, and improvements to Kinston’s quality of life."
